About the surety bond
In an update posted at the PRC website, the PRBRES has announced that a surety bond in the amount of Php20,000.00 in favor of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) with a validity of three (3) years, is required for the registration of the new real estate brokers as provided for by Section 26, Rule 4 of the RA 9646 IRR.
Since the information above was only posted today, April 7, 2011 (as indicated in the PRC website), it would come as no surprise that a number of new real estate board exam passers already went to the PRC to register, without the surety bond.
Unconfirmed reports from reliable sources told me My wife and I visited the PRC and confirmed that those who registered but did not have surety bonds yet can just bring it during the oath taking on April 26, 2011 on or before April 14, 2011.
Where to get a surety bond
A lot of people have been asking me where they can get their surety bonds and I said I can just refer them to where I got mine, which I submitted as part of the requirements for my registration w/o examination.

The premium for the surety bond is Php1,800.00 and is valid for 3 years. After you fill-up the form, you will be contacted asap on how you can pay for the surety bond and where you can pick it up (within Metro Manila only).
Other things to bring when you register
Those who will register are required to bring the following:
- Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
- Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)
- 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag)
- 1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete nametag)
- 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession
- Pay the Initial Registration Fee of Php600.00 and Annual Registration Fee of Php450 for 2011-2014.
*Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals .
Oath taking ceremony
The oath taking ceremony shall be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, 1:00pm, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, Philippines.
Tickets for the oathtaking will be available from April 7, 2011 to April 25, 2011.

i want to know if my PRC license was forfeited when i did not register last april 2011. I did not have surety bond before and after postponing my registration, i totally forgot it. Now, i tried calling PRC and they told me that my license is not yet available. Did somebody claimed their PRC Real Estate brokers Professional card already? Thanks.

Hi Shiela, there are rumors that there will be another exam before the end of this year. Nothing is definite though. I’m pretty sure there would be weekend only reviews that would be offered if ever.

Regarding the Surety Bonds, some of our friends in the insurance industry have been informed of the predicament of our new brokers and have promised to do something to make things easier for them.
Alpha Insurance responded by putting up a satellite office just across the street from PRC entrance gate beginning Monday, April 11.
Jay, the traditional attire for all previous Oathtaking Ceremonies for Real Estate Practitioners have always been “Filipiniana” meaning barong for men and kimona for ladies. Others ignore the rule and come in “coat and tie” or evening gowns. Still others just come in semi-formal attire.
Actually, nobody is turned away for non-compliance with the Filipiniana Dress code.
You have the freedom to conform or to come as you are.

You can register ahead of your schedule. Several were allowed to do so because there are no long lines yet last Thursday and Friday.
Hi Arlene. May I ask where exactly in Binondo can I apply that surety bond? And how long will it take them to release it? I’m planning to register sana this Monday 🙂

Yes, those who were not able to register on the date of their schedule can still register until April 14, 2011. In fact they are accepting registrants that are not scheduled on that particular date and time. I do belong on the first AM batch and true enough that we don’t have the surety bond. Why? because one of my group mates called PRC inquired and confirmed that the bond is not a requisite on the registration. We tried to make an appeal together with the other “A” brokers, but its kinda useless. So immediately we bond and rush to Binondo and applied for one. Requirements: valid ID and NBI only amount is P1,650.00. Later in the afternoon we received an info that PRC has decided to accept applicants without the bond…haayyyyy!
Finally at 4pm we were able finished the process, even if we arrived at PRC as early as 8am and some at 6am that day.
Question: A lady personnel advised us to have the oath form notarized at the third floor of their legal department, is it really mandatory? Just asking, coz I believed some did not have their forms notarized.
It would be helpful to note that everyone registering for the license should head straight to the 3rd floor of the Annex Building, Office of Professional Teachers, after getting the Oath-Taking form at the Public Assistance Counter. You can already get the metered doc stamps there instead of falling in the long line at the ground floor.
On a side note, I got a score of 85.75. I was 1 right answer from the top 10. Oh well.
